Our story
Foundations Bank President Greg Kolton found his career at age six; whenever he played Monopoly, he insisted on being the banker. His interest grew as he learned the importance of banking to local commerce.
For 34 years, Greg worked for banks in Waukesha County, rising to president and CEO of Marine Bank of Wisconsin. Meanwhile, Heidi Kolton, his wife, advanced to vice president of client services for Metavante, a financial technology services provider.
Still, Greg harbored the ultimate community banker's dream of starting his own bank.
The right time
In late 2003, an informal survey convinced the Koltons Waukesha County was ready for an independent bank focused on responsive, community-oriented service.
And so it began. Early in 2004, Heidi became chief operating officer of Generations Bancorp, Inc., the new bank's holding company. A few months later, Greg joined her in building their team, augmenting their 65 years of combined financial services experience with the know-how of other seasoned professionals.
Extraordinary support
The Foundations investor group raised more than $19 million in seed capital, more than double the required amount and a Wisconsin record for a de novo bank. Foundations Bank opened in September 2005 and doubled its assets in just over six months.
Foundations delivers a full range of financial services with a "private banking" feel, offering special expertise in owner-managed businesses. The bank's name and its tagline, "Banking on solid ground," reflect support from and for the community.
A true landmark
The new bank headquarters stands out with its landmark architecture. And Foundations Bank stands out with its landmark combination of big-bank expertise, community-bank responsiveness and one-on-one customization
With Foundations Bank, Greg and Heidi Kolton have reached the community banker's career pinnacle. Even better, they now offer local families and businesses the resources to make their dreams come true.
